We had a great shoppe launch last week, with lots of support from our friends over at

I decided to start this blog to serve as a place to talk about new items and projects, and keep everyone posted on news about the shoppe.
About me: Maybe I should start off with a little about me. My name is Laura. I'm 25 years old and currently call Atlanta, Georgia home. However the first 20 years of my life were spent in the neighboring state of South Carolina - first in a little town called Gilbert in central inland SC, and later by the ocean in Charleston, SC. Anyone from South Carolina can tell you we've got a little of the mountains and a little of the beach in all of us... and I try to let those two loves come through in my work.
My personal Steampunk history: I got into Steampunk back in late 2006, and debuted my first steampunk costume at Dragon*Con 2007, with my crew mates at
Outland Armour. I love my Outlanders, and while they will always be dear friends close to my heart, as of Nov 2010 I have decided to break away and start my own business creating steampunk and vintage style clothing and accessories. Having a company all my own will give me the kind of freedom I've been wanting for some time, and I will continue to do costuming with the Outlanders for fun of course!
About the name: The name Ancient Albatross was inspired by Samuel Taylor Coleridge's epic poem -
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. My personal Steampunk aesthetic is very pirate and seafarer in theme... so one of my favorite poems about adventure on the high seas seemed a more than appropriate reference.
This week I'm going home for the holidays, and I am already plotting a sewing day. The shoppe needs more clothing! I have lots of jewelry in stock just now, but not much to cover the naked! That won't do at all! :o
